ANOTHER ANIMAL Featuring GODSMACK, Ex-UGLY KID JOE Members: Song Available For Download
August 29, 2006ANOTHER ANIMAL, the new band featuring GODSMACK members Shannon Larkin (drums),Robbie Merrill (bass) and Tony Rombola (guitar) alongside vocalist Whitfield Crane (UGLY KID JOE, LIFE OF AGONY, MEDICATION),has made its single, "Find a Way", available for download at its MySpace page.
ANOTHER ANIMAL's debut album is scheduled for release later in the year via Republic/Universal.
After an initial writing block from lead singer Sully Erna during the sessions for GODSMACK's latest album, "IV", the rhythm section of Larkin, Merrill and Rombola spent countless hours in the studio writing and re-writing tunes for the album. But with close to 40 songs written and only so much space on GODSMACK's "IV", Shannon, Robbie and Tony took a few leftover songs and formed ANOTHER ANIMAL. Roo TV caught up with Larkin back in March 2006 to talk about ANOTHER ANIMAL and how the band was extremely productive while Sully was away.
"It wasn't really productive for GODSMACK, but for Tony, Robbie and me, it was very productive, 'cause we found each other's niche in songwriting," Larkin explained. "In fact, so much so that even after Sully had… We had like 30 something songs, including Sully's songs and the songs that the band wrote together — it was 38 songs or something ridiculous like that. A bunch of music — a bunch of really good music. And you can only have so many songs on a record. So we had all this leftover music that we think is kick-ass. So we started this other band — me, Tony and Robbie — it's called ANOTHER ANIMAL."
Larkin went on to discuss adding his old bandmate from UGLY KID JOE, lead singer Whit Crane, and where he thought the music would be going with ANOTHER ANIMAL.
"So anyway, we called the band ANOTHER ANIMAL and got Whit Crane — he's my buddy from UGLY KID JOE — to sing," he said. "And he's awesome. The music is… it's like… There's definitely some [BLACK] SABBATH [influences], but with like [touches of] 'Angel Dust' FAITH NO MORE era."
